It’s Time for Premier Danielle Smith to Resign
Smith’s attempts to solicit foreign interference in Canada’s election should be taken seriously by authorities.
In 1968, during the lead up to the presidential election, Richard Nixon secretly interfered in peace talks in Paris aimed at settling the Vietnam war. Using Anna Chennault as a back-channel, he urged South Vietnamese President Nguyễn Văn Thiệu to refuse any peace deal from Linden B. Johnson promising a “better peace” from him after the election. Knowing that ending the war would be a major boost for the Democrats, Nixon ordered his agents to “monkey wrench” the talks. The war could have ended right then in 1968, instead it raged on for years killing millions of people. Tens of thousands of American soldiers, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese soldiers, both North and South, and an unknown number of civilians were sacrificed so Richard Nixon could have a better shot at winning the election.
While confirmation of the Chennault Affair didn’t come out until decades later, we now know that Johnson was aware of Nixon’s traitorous actions. Ironically, he didn’t bring it out into the public for fear of appearing to abuse the powers of his office, by wire-tapping a presidential candidate. This blatant violation of the Logan Act might have landed Richard Nixon in prison, and Hubert Humphrey in the oval office, but it was not to be. Richard Nixon’s treachery would be exposed in other ways, millions of people would die, and the White House would be forever stained with the memory of its most deceitful occupant, until now.
Alberta Premier Daniel Smith’s actions are no less treacherous than those of Richard Nixon. Smith has stated publicly, that she colluded with the Trump administration to attempt to sway the Canadian election, by requesting that Trump delay the tariffs until a more politically favourable time for Pierre Poilievre. She even added “I would say on balance, the perspective that Pierre would bring would be very much in sync with, I think, the new direction in America.”
You don’t have to take my word for it; you can hear it from Danielle Smith here.
Smith is no stranger to controversy, or police investigations. The RCMP is currently investigating her government after the CEO of the province’s healthcare authority was fired. Mentzelopoulos claims in court filings that she was fired after beginning a forensic audit of contracts for private surgical companies that have links to Alberta government officials. Apparently there is concern about the prices that were negotiated. Prior to that, she had been slammed by the ethics commissioner for illegally interfering with criminal prosecutions.
Did I mention that Danielle Smith is also trying to get rid of the RCMP?
This isn’t the first time Smith has asked Americans to interfere in Canadian politics. When Tucker Carlson came to Calgary, Smith joined him in a panel discussion, and asked that he put pressure on Canadian ministers. "I wish you would put Steven Guilbeault in your crosshairs." she said, "He's an environmental zealot. He happens to be our environmental minister federally. He believes he has the expertise and knowledge to tell us in Alberta how to run our power grid,"
This latest act, however, is in another category altogether. The Trump regime has threatened to annex Canada by economic force. The premier of Alberta is advising the administration on how best to use that economic leverage to achieve their objectives. These revelations cast her latest meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney in a new light. Smith had a laundry list of demands for the next Prime Minister to implement within six months, and threatened a national unity crisis if they were not met. She then went on to threaten some form of Alberta referendum, without directly mentioning what that referendum would be about. “Is there some referendum question the public wants us to ask?” Smith wondered aloud.
After repeated breaches of trust, abuses of power and now directly working with a hostile foreign power to undermine Canadian sovereignty, it is time for Smith to go. She is not fit to hold office. Danielle Smith does not belong in power, she belongs in a prison cell.
Not to be rude but that caricature of her is waaaaay too flattering.
It's always an interesting spectacle when the weak, small minded,talent-diminished swagger up to an adult and THREATEN them with hubristic bullshit. Danielle you are so yesterday's news. You take your truckers, your band of whiners and snivelers in their land yachts and your Breitbart Bros. Pierre (PP) Poilievre and go park yourself anywhere south of the 49th. Don't need you here. Oh, and be careful Agent Orange doesn't snatch you up and give you an all expenses paid holiday in Venezuela. ( Although I think that would be a befitting end to your illustrious political career and I'm pretty sure we don't have an extradition treaty in place. If I remember correctly a lot of Nazis fled to South America to escape prosecution.)
